Skin Wars Inspiration

This weekend I was watching a show on Netflix called skin wars. It’s where there are multiple professional body painters and they compete for a grand prize of 100,000 dollars! It was very intriguing and interesting to watch all the different painters. It shows how many different styles of painting there are, but yet they still all are doing one thing, which in this case is body painting.

This is like all design professions because everyone is different and has their own ideas and perceptions of one thing. In one of the challenges they also had to work in teams. Some of them had trouble communicating and others did so much better. It all depends on the type of person you are. In the teams that struggled it was mainly because they didn’t want to hear what the others had to say and did their own thing, thinking it was going to work, but ended up in failure. In the real world you have to work in teams and work together; especially in certain design professions. It was also cool to see the teams that did do really well and to build off of the others ideas. Being in a team this is exactly what you want because if you hear out the other person or people you can create something extraordinary because you are getting different perspectives that maybe you never thought of.

Watching the show I also noticed that a lot of them were not living in a good place and or had much money; so this 100,000 dollars could change their life.

A lot of designers don’t necessarily make a lot of money unless they become big. But, they were all so happy with what they do and didn’t really care about the money they were making. This is really inspiring to see that if you really enjoy and are happy about your job it doesn’t really matter about the money.
