The most important thing to most teenagers in this day and age is “getting the perfect picture for the gram”. With the expansion of cellular cameras, the photography industry has been on a steady decline. What people don’t recognize is the work that actually goes in to being a “good” photographer.
Photography is really preference work. Each photographer likes to shoot different things; nature, portraiture, landscapes, architecture, ect. In order to be successful, you have to find something that speaks to you. Once you find that thing, research is the KEY to getting the right equipment, tools, and tricks. There is a vas selection of lenses, camera bodies, and other accessories that are important to consider when going to purchase something.
After you have successfully done research and invested, another important thing to do is learn about your camera, it’s best to know the ins and out of how it works in order to obtain the best shots.
One of the important things to do after purchasing and getting to know your camera is… more research. But this time at a different level. It’s important to look at other photographer’s work and see how others. It’s just a good rule for inspiration. When you aspire to try techniques like other people, you ultimately better yourself as a photographer. Usually your work ends up looking completely different anyways, but growth is important and you’re always growing.
Lastly, know where you’re going with it. Is it a hobby? Or will you take it to the next level? If you plan on taking it to the next level, aka getting paid for your work, it’s important to know your clients. How much can you reasonably expect, how many people are out there that will want to pay for your work. It’s always best to go in knowing exactly everything.
Now let’s look at some of my favorite work!!!

Notice how none of these could be possibly shot on some cell phone. Photography really requires dedication and creativity to be successful. These are just a sample from my personal favorite photographers but they have so much more to offer. Many photographers get little to no exposure today so check them out (these are their twitter names).
In a nutshell, I hope these few suggestions helped open eyes to the world that is photography!
