How would you describe your design style? Modern? Traditional? Boho? Are you someone who doesn’t fit wholly into one specific design category? As luck would have it, there is a design style for you, eclectic. Eclectic design styles derive ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. This specific design style is becoming very popular in current trends because designers have found magic in mixing different design styles to create something unique.

You probably see this design style a lot more often than you realize and it might even be in your own home. Why are people so drawn to this style? Probably because it’s a way to collectively express themselves into a room. Most people don’t categorize their likes and style into one place, a lot of people like

different things from different styles. Let’s say, for example, you think you like spaces to be modern, but you realize a completely modern room is not as inviting as you had hoped. You think to yourself… “I need something to make this space feel warm and inviting”... wood? So you go forth and put some wooden accents into the room and add some shag blankets, these elements which would usually characterize within the “rustic” design style.
You stand back, look at your room and realize although you may of thought you wanted a modern space, it is now something entirely different eclectic. This style of design can be used intermittently with all different design styles, and even with more than just two design styles. Rooms don’t have to be one specific style, they can be a mix, and you might not even realize that you’re trending! See if you can spot the design styles featured in the eclectic spaces featured.
